Here I Am!

Fall break was over a week ago. My Dad came out from California for a visit. Although I was off for a week, the Chicklet had 2 1/2 days of school. Dad and I kept busy. We worked on the front yard a bit, I dragged him to the Desert Botanical Garden. I wasn't sure he would enjoy it but he did.

I was looking forward to getting out of town on some day trips but it rained a lot so I wasn't sure about some of the ideas I'd had. Then the Chicklet bailed on us to go to the State Fair with her friends one day. She had fun. That's what counts. Dad made it to the casinos a few times. One day he broke even, the other he came back with a heavier wallet. We took a drive out to Surprise which is about an hour east of Phoenix. We made a visit to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum. Eucalyptus bark. I love bark. I saw a book once full of photgraphes of tree bark from all over the world. It had an over-the-top drool factor. I've never seen a book like it since but in 30 years, I've never forgotten it.Mother Nature is a fabulous artist. I love buds and circles.
More delightful eye candy. We had a nice walk. I saw my first Cardinal but I wasn't able to get a good photo. It started to rain at one point. We were able to take refuge in a ramada overlooking the pond.It was a beautiful day, in a beautiful place.
