Seeing Red

The chicklet and I took another field trip between camp and swim lessons. Why is it that so many cool places to check out in Central Phoenix are outdoors in the sweltering, summer heat? Today's excursion was to the Farmer's Market downtown. I saw the placard over the weekend that they're open on Sat. 8am-12 noon and 4pm-8pm on Wed. I just found a bunch of good recipes in a magazine yesterday but I didn't take a shopping list with me.
My mission was to get some more pictures for my "Red" book.
OK, these are more pink than red but they are called "red" potatos
These cherry tomatos were so yummy and juicy looking, I just wanted to bite into one!
We left the vegetables alone and went for fruit turnovers. Oh my, they were YUMMY, scrumpious! The Chicklet had cherry and I had rhubarb. We sat and listened to live music and finished off with freshly squeezed lemonade. There was shade and portable evap coolers to make sticking around bearable.

Next time, I'll take my shopping list with me. Don't forget to bring your own reusable shopping bags. Go Green! I think I saw some really cool ones. I wanted to approach the lady for a closer look but she was deep in conversation. It looked like she had bags knitted or crocheted from plastic shopping bags. Oh fun! That's enough to tempt me to crochet again.

The downtown Farmer's Market is located on Central Ave. and McKinley, across from the Westward Ho Hotel.
